Attend the annual Omaha Police Foundation Officer of the Year Awards Luncheon. Since 1999, the Foundation has sponsored and hosted the Omaha Police Department’s annual Officer of the Year Awards Luncheon to recognize and encourage acts of heroism.
This year’s 17th Annual “Omaha Police Officer of the Year” Awards Luncheon will be held on April 20, 2017 at the Scott Conference Center, 6450 Pine Street, Omaha. Purchase tickets here.

2015 Officer of the Year
The Omaha Police Foundation presented its 16th Annual Officer of the Year Awards Luncheon in April of 2016. Nine officers and one non-sworn support personnel were recognized for their outstanding work during 2015. Purple Heart recipient Officer Kerrie Orozco was selected from among the honorees as the 2015 Officer of the Year.
In May of 2015, Officer Orozco and members of the Fugitive Task Force were engaged in apprehending a violent felon. After an exchange of gunfire, Officer Orozco was hit in the chest just above her protective vest and later succumbed to her injuries. Officer Orozco was praised as someone who epitomized the standards of excellence and professionalism to which all officers aspire. Ellen Holtz, mother of Officer Orozco, accepted the award.
